coherence is overrated

here have some derp as an apology
i haven't been blogging in ages. i keep making new drafts and typing one or two sentences in.. and then just leaving them there. whoops.

well, a lot has happened.

in chronological order, of course (because any other way would send the world spinning into chaos and anarchy)
#1 went to Ipoh to visit the biebster
#2 results results!
#3 the new lecturer for comparative is japanese (and for lack of a better word, adorable)
#4 i may have unwittingly inducted my friends into a cult
#5 the boyfriend's birthday and rock climbing
#6 we got assigned our roles for gender studies
#7 chelley's bithday is this saturday

#1 went to Ipoh to visit the biebster
perak cave
i was supposed to dedicate an entire blog post to that. but evidently, i've failed. so...

there was a whole bunch of food that her family just kept trying to stuff into me. i liked that haha. a lot. it was really good food. although, i have to admit, it revolved a lot around chicken, tauge (beansprouts), soy sauce, and hor fun, which i like, so i'm not complaining. even their nga po kai fun (claypot chicken rice) is real good.

landmark wise, there are murals here and there, like the ones in penang (even by the same artist, Ernest Zacharivic, and others).
pretty sure this is by ernest zacharevic
biebs being obscene in public (she'll kill me)

Kellie's castle was just beautiful and we really liked that one. it's supposedly haunted too so, oo er.
kellie's castle. you have to.
part of the "haunted" corridor. if you see anything, it's ok not to let me know haha
#2 results results!
as it goes, i did pretty well. not the best of all the previous results, but considering i was expecting a whole lot less, i'm pretty pleased with how everything turned out.

after a whole lot of sobbing and etc,

i rewarded myself by, of course, falling asleep at 10pm on my bedroom floor.

#3 the new lecturer for comparative is japanese (and for lack of a better word, adorable)
he keeps trying to teach us about classical conditioning, and draws a whole lot of things ranging from bells to coke bottles and dogs on the board. each time he gets the marker pen, he goes "i have the power"

i think i'm learning quite a bit of what it's like in the field of animal research. it is not pretty.
although, the way they train honey bees to sniff out explosives and etc. is pretty damn adorable.
* if you don't feel like watching all of it, just skip to 1.40 and see how the bees get strapped in. look at all that flailing. but do watch the whole thing, really informative and interesting. and there are cuter parts where the honeybees stick out their proboscises (the little tube that comes out of a butterfly/bee's head for feeding)*

#4 i may have unwittingly inducted my friends into a cult
so, i realised it's our last semester here at HELP uni a few days ago (yeah, took me a while) and for some reason, got a little (a lot) emotional about it? and then, i got really nervous and sentimental and went out to buy string.
...
the long and short of it is i eventually decided to buy some string and barricade myself in my room for a few hours, starting at about 0300 hours (because that's obviously a reasonable time to start doing things, as opposed to sleeping. psshhhh SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK. YAAAARGH) making friendship bracelets and tiny notes for my closest friends.
i was supposed to stop and go to sleep, but no.

see, when i get an idea in my head, i have to do it ASAP. especially if it's something involving making and giving things to others. i get really excited about that.

after i made about 5 though, i got really tired and started to realise what a bad idea it was to start making them so late. unfortunately, because of that need to give out exactly the way i saw it in my head, which was altogether and at the same time, i had to finish the others as well. or, it would be "unfair".

logically, i could've waited another day and just given everything to them a day late. but nope.
i'm not known for being logical. there's a reason for that.
all in all, ended up sleeping at about 0650 hours. my class was at 0800 hours.
i have excellent planning skills.

#5 the boyfriend's birthday and rock climbing
we met when we were 8 and then again at 10, and then it was just best friend type thing. but now it's just a whole new kind of weird. it's really rare to find someone who loves you and still thinks you're awesome (and completely ridiculous) after 13 years of horror friendship but i'm glad we're there.

boyfriend, you continue to be one of the best people i know. although, to be honest, you really need to stop touching me so much. and also, what is with that random attack thing that you do? you know the one where you're comparable to a boa constrictor. don't pretend you don't know what i'm talking about.
honestly, i've never met someone who consistently makes me laugh until i tear and my stomach hurts as much as this idiot does. aces.
camp 5
rock climbing was pretty excellent. i thought i'd just die halfway, you know, because of my obscene amount of upper body strength (if i had to quantify it, i'd say it was about a 1.5 on a scale of 10, where 1.5 equates to me getting tired after holding my 6kg cat for 15 minutes. but hey, i make up for my lack of abilities with excessive stubbornness, and that works pretty well).

however, i have a problem with it. once i get up (which was surprisingly no problem at all), i. can't. get. down.

for one thing, i'm pretty scared of heights. my friends laugh at me because of this thing i do when i get near the edges of high up places. michelle now refers to it as the "alyssa stance". thanks a lot for the support. but, i also have a huge problem with .. letting go. (surprisingly, this covers quite a large area)
there was literally a point that day where i went up (it felt like 3 storeys at least) and, well, i just couldn't bring myself to let go and "fall" down. so, i stood up there for at least a minute or two (i shit you not) before i finally actually let go and came down. i almost wanted to climb down at one point but that'd break a rule.

still, it was very fun. and i got to hang with the idiots, so that was great.

check out camp 5 at one utama, it's pretty good. they've got taster session (at RM48), for about 2-3 hours i think? i'm not quite sure. membership is RM20 per day for students and RM30 for adults (but you have to pass through a basic course, RM100 for 4 hours).

#6 we got assigned our roles for gender studies
chelle and i are thankfully not unemployed. she's a mathematician (which made us burst out laughing right after she opened it because .. well, chelley hates math with a burning passion) and i'm a speech pathologist. we can grow our own leonard leaky hofstadter. michelle keeps repeating the phrase "OUR CHILDREN WILL BE SMART AND BEAUTIFUL" in lieu of this.

#7 chelley's bithday is this saturday
chelle and i on our buddy-moon in seoul, korea (this was at a gallery called RE:photography)
we had a small lunch at this korean place. and then followed her around in search for pants for her new job (so heads up guys, chelley actually needs pants. get her all the pants. FLOOD HER WITH THEM PANTS. if you need to know her size, i know it shhhh. ask me, and i will discreetly SCREAM IT OUT AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS. i kid, but really, come see me).
she better wear the shirt i got her (maniacal laughter).

so that was pretty long.

anyway, have a look at this.

i just think this is amazing. my brain identifies this as english but it can't make out any one of the words. the lyrics are gibberish. but my brain still identifies it as english regardless. it's quite amazing actually.
